Cardwell Communications was founded on a simple belief: that the organizations best positioned to thrive in the AI era are those whose leaders understand it deeply — not just technically, but strategically and humanly.
We are a boutique consulting firm specializing in AI strategy, executive education, and custom tool development. Our clients range from Fortune 500 companies to community nonprofits — united by a shared desire to use AI purposefully.
What sets us apart is our commitment to honest partnership. We don't sell technology for its own sake. We help you find the right AI approach for your specific context, culture, and goals.

Our work is powered by a hybrid model — combining Mark's hands-on consulting experience with a set of purpose-built AI tools that extend capacity, accelerate research, and sharpen every deliverable.

Mark Cardwell is recognized as an AI advocate with expertise in integrating artificial intelligence into small business and nonprofit workflows — a skill self-taught through extensive research and practice.
Mark is the Founder and Principal Consultant at Cardwell Communications LLC and is currently the Interim Executive Director for the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO). He leverages comprehensive marketing consultancy with a focus on strategic plan development, coaching, consulting, and serving as an interim or fractional marketing director, alongside developing and leading workshops and courses both in-person and online across various regions.
With a distinguished career spanning leadership roles in nonprofit arts, for-profit sales, and marketing management, Mark is driven by a passion for coaching, training, and mentoring. His consultancy primarily aids nonprofit agencies, foundations, and individual entrepreneurs in harnessing the power of marketing and AI to achieve their goals.
An esteemed member of the nonprofit community, Mark has served on a number of boards and councils. He is a former OANO board member and council consultant, a faculty member of Americans for the Arts' ARTS U, a participant in AFTA's panel of experts, and was most recently a member of the AEP 6 Equity Task Force.

We start by listening — deeply understanding your organization, your goals, and your current relationship with technology.
We map your AI landscape: what's working, what's missing, and where the highest-leverage opportunities lie.
We build a clear, actionable roadmap — prioritized by impact and designed to fit your capacity and culture.
We work alongside your team to execute the strategy, build the tools, and train the people who will carry it forward.
AI is not a one-time project. We stay engaged as your partner, adapting the strategy as the landscape evolves.
We believe AI should simplify, not overwhelm. Every recommendation we make is designed to create clarity — in strategy, in tools, and in communication.
Technology serves people, not the other way around. We design every solution with the humans who will use it at the center of our thinking.
We tell you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear. Our best work happens when we're trusted advisors, not just vendors.
Whether you're a Fortune 500 or a community nonprofit, we believe your AI strategy should serve your deepest purpose — not just your bottom line.
Let's start with a conversation about what's possible.
